My point is that if I can hear it, I can hear it. I know that you think yours only makes pleasant sounds, but I am one who believes that no sound is better than no sound. In other words, generators make noise. When I take my eu2000i which will not run my air conditioner, I park at least five hundred feet from my friends. They say, "Thanks". I do the same thing with my Champion with the same response. - 2oldmanExplorer II

No, I do not. No I do not. I don't care. I never said or implied mine was silent. That would be silly. I'll be more careful when responding to anything you say. You're too angry.2oldman wrote:

Yes, but the Hondas are so much more pleasant to hear from 200' than a open frame mounted in a truck bed.
I have not found a generator that I could not hear from 66 paces (200 feet) away on an otherwise quiet day .
No duh! You post this in every generator thread. Do you cut and paste? You have never heard my generator and I don't think yours is silent. - TomG2ExplorerTo the OP. You have heard from the "Mine is almost silent" crowd. There are some that are quieter than others. No argument there except from the "Mine is quieter than yours folks".
If you want the most bang for the buck, look at the Chinese clone 3500/4000 watt open frame generators. Not something to run in a crowded quiet campground. If that is the type of camping you do, get ready to hear generators running all day and all night. If you want power in a noisy environment or for home backup, the $300 open frame models will perform as well as the $1,000 units. I do not camp where a generator is going to be used all day and I can live with a couple of hours a day hearing a modern open frame generator (Not a contractor generator). You can't hear mine or a Honda in a Walmart parking lot on a busy Saturday night, like tonight. - TomG2Explorer

On the other side, 3 sites away a guy is running open frame generator.
When all 3 are running, standing close to Hondas, I hear the open frame.
Honda are quiet when you just charge the battery. Once you start AC, you can hear it, but there is difference between hearing it and have it annoying.
Than we have great topics about Predator gen sets. Would I not bought the Honda 15 years ago for $900, I would be tempted to buy cheap.
Power-wise, 3000W generator will run AC and charge batteries at the same time, but for using oven or coffeemaker you have to shut down AC - korbeExplorerI'm glad the noise factor comes into the conversation with RVer generator considerations. Cost, weight, output and noise can all play a part generally speaking.
- Beach camping? Do you need air conditioning? Microwave? Hairdryer? Electric coffee?
3000 minimum for 15k air and then start adding wattage as needed. Phones etc are essentially zero. You may need an extra 1500 watts for charging the battery with the converter.
No air conditioning? Consider 200 to 400 watts solar and a small sine wave inverter. - camperguy99ExplorerIf you buy the noisy one be sure to also purchase a very long extension cord.
