- 2oldmanExplorer IIIf you wish you can search 'generator' in the subject line in Tech. There's tons of 'em.
- tonymullExplorerFrom what I'm seeing all the inverter type generators make about the same amount of noise. They all weigh within a couple of pounds of each other. They are different prices, different colors. What I'm looking for is reliability. Thanks for the input, keep it coming. I like the idea of looking to see what rental companies use.
- CrabbypattyExplorerI always find it interesting that after "rvers" pay tens of thousands for a TV & a Rig that they cheap out and buy the loud noisy generators. Camping at a county park, security gave the guy next to us the business about his. He had to turn it off, all the while my Honda 3000 was purring along. They never heard it. I have had to tell some of these folks many times to turn it off as they place it on my side so they cant be bothered with it. The new rule in the county park is that the portables have now to be on the door side. BTW my honda 3000i is 12 years old and all Ive done is change the oil and spark plug.
- bikendanExplorerChampion's 2000w inverter generator has an established positive track record.
it's very comparable to the H & Y units, but much cheaper.
the new Generac 2000w inverter generator has some very cool features and says it's quieter than the Honda 2000i.
but it's new on the market and doesn't have a proven record yet. - StraboExplorerGenerac......Hello, I can't hear you.

Honda's are very light, and so is the Yamaha. Champion and Generac have a lawn mower type of engine, and they are not quiet.
Generator specs:
Champion 2000: 53 db @ 23 ft
Honda 2000: 53 db @ 23 ft
That seems to be the same sound level for both generators. - DuctapeExplorerHere's an idea; go to some rental companies such and see what they use.
- kyle86ExplorerI have the champion 2000w inverter. I bought it used but like new. So far it fires up and runs reliably. No way would I want anything louder. Never owned a honda. I'm too broke even used ones are 800+ it seems. Holds value well tho!
- corvettekentExplorerI bought a Champion, added the gas and oil, started it up and it was very loud. The next day when I opened the garage door there was gas all over the floor. Needless to say the Champion got returned to the store.
Step up and buy a Honda or Yamaha and you won't be disappointed.
