As noted above, there is a line side and a load side on a GFCI. If it is hooked up incorrectly it will not work. Another thought is that the problem that caused the trip is still there, try unplugging everything that is on the GFCI circuit and try resetting it then. Maybe the GFCI is doing it's job. JMO
