Hi smk,
My intent is not to beat up on any maker. I believe the go power is a good unit--and if KJ can fix them--it is back on my list.
Umm.. wouldn't it be better just to buy a DEPENDABLE name brand UP FRONT instead of a cheap brand which is more likely to let you down at the worst of times?
Even if the cheap ones are "fixable" that doesn't mean the "repair" is going to last unless the flaw(s) that caused the failure(s) are "found" and fixed at the same time.
I was in the retail consumer electronic repair bus many years ago, back then the margins got really thin as manufacturers cheapened up the new products to the point that my time in labor plus parts was often averaging just a few dollars cheaper than a new replacement.
A $29-$100 inverter simply is not worth tossing $10-$20 worth of parts and a couple of hrs of labor at (If you are not charging at least $50 per hr you ARE losing money in a repair shop), not to mention the shipping back and forth which isn't cheap now days ($10-$15 min each way). It is for that reason most of these "importers" do not offer "repairs".
Do yourself a huge favor, buy a REAL name brand inverter and save your heartache which would happen down the road with a cheap brand...
Go Power like Cobra and many others are nothing more than an IMPORT NAME. ANYONE can do it, you simply have to contact a Chinese manufacturer, be willing to buy a minimum purchase (often a container load) of inverters and you can have your very own name "stamped" on it.
