With all my "greenliness" I can't help noting that this is about break-even with the cost of gas of an old compact car with so-so fuel economy, driven in a city traffic same 36 thousand miles covered by battery warranty.
On the 2nd thought - not a break-even because warranty expires after 3 years or 36K miles, whichever comes earlier. For some people it takes 4-5 years to make 36K miles.
Of course, there is a chance that it will outlive its warranty :)
