Iisn't a question of whether they are junk, it's purely a question of if they were worth a fraction of their price, the military would be jumping all over them.
My sarcasm is directed at the absurd comments, re: exaggerations hyping the "LiPo Generation". Oh no, not questioning their positive traits, but zeroing in on whether or not THEY ARE WORTH THE MONEY. I have lived with hype most of my life and frankly I am sick of it. Taking your rig to the garbage dump would be your bag not mine. Fabricating Alice in Wonderland pronouncements is what gets under my skin.
ENOUGH customers meaning THOUSANDS using this battery for a minimum of five years BOONDOCKING may yield a totally different reality than retail hype and a handful of comments by and handful of enthusiasts.
Remember my barbs about the JC PENNY FOREVER BATTERY? I was on a Jeep trip and my Willys broke a front axle and "Jim" used his Warn winch and "genuine" hyper-hyped-hyperbole JC PENNY FOREVER battery. Te campers I was with had turned that block of lead and electrolyte into something sitting on the right-hand-of-god around evening campfires.
Halfway up the slope using a snatch-block the battery smoked and utterly quit. Someone else equipped with a NORMAL battery got me up the slope, past a ledge that the FOREVER battery never saw, and we went home. Jim had to be jump-started at all rest stops.
The LiPo battery may indeed be far superior to even the best of the best flooded lead acid and absorbed glass mat batteries.
There was a television program in the mid-fifties about leaping off tall buildings and being faster than a speeding locomotive. Interesting, but it didn't cost a thousand dollars.
Time will tell. Hyperbole vastly lessens the validity of any product. Either it proves itself or it doesn't. We may all be in for some very rude awakening.
What a Fuddy, huh? No body piercing, head to toe skin murals, over the ears electronics, a whatzamajigger panel held with both hands, and a real life. Reject Cro Magnon mentality. Either you're totally "With It" or totally "Out Of It". Call it sneering at sub par mentality peer-pressure.
