Balance/Equalize and Desulfate are all related.. in fact in some system are all the same thing.
A limited time controlled overcharge 44 volts on a 36 volt system Sounds about right (45 volts would be my best guess at what it should be).
What this does is kind of complex but it will "Boil" the cells.. Shortly.
Now if the cell is FULLY charged. the excess just boils water into brown's gas (2 parts Hydrogen to one oxygen I do not suggest you smoke near it KABOOM).
but if a cell is say a bit "Behind" the others in charging it will first come up to FULL UP then make brown's gas.
The "Boiling" action will stir up the fluid in the cells which can "Startify" (The acid is heavier than water so the acid tends to settle to the bottom and the top is more water.. Not a good thing at all).
And it may also knock some sulfacation off the cell plates. also a good thing.
So let it do what it is doing
