Google - location based reminders?

Is anyone a whiz with Android phones?

Google has a feature that lets your phone remind you based on your location (like milk from the grocery store, etc)... at least that's how the demo videos work

my phone, I tell it remind me to buy bread at Olson's Food Store ... it knows Olson Food Store if I search for it, offering directions, etc, but when I try to set a reminder, the only location it offers me is "Home" or "Work"

Now if I say remind me to buy milk at Whole Foods ... it knows Whole Foods.

Another one I tried... remind me to buy an oil filter at NAPA, the phone plays dumb with the location for NAPA. But if I do the same reminder for Target, it knows where Target is... even though the closest Target is 100 miles from here

So my question is ... are Whole Foods and Target paying Google to sponsor these reminders, and Olson and NAPA are not, so the phone plays dumb?

Ranking of results this kind of helps. More popular places, get higher rankings. Maybe try "Auto Parts Store" instead of NAPA. Most people know NAPA as a valley in California...
