Got a new generator
I had a 1600w running 2000w surge "Powerit" brand inverter generator last year. I got it on a good sale 2 years ago. Didn't use it much at all the first year I had it since I just had a utility trailer that I converted into our camping trailer. It had a rack up top for the kayak, and the bikes and some plastic totes were carried on the trailer floor.
Anyway, when we got the little Jayco, the 1600w unit struggled with the microwave, wouldn't run the AC (13.5 BTU) of course, but did charge the battery and run a coffee maker. It ran great and was pretty quiet.
So, I sold the 1600w unit for about $50 less than I paid for it two years ago via the local classifieds (it was in great shape), and bought a Firman 3000w running, 3300w surge unit. They make an electric start model, and a model that is identical but has remote electric start. Mine has neither, but was only $750 Cdn at Costco. Interestingly, Costco here no longer sells Champion, but used to.
I will do a follow up to this post once I have a chance to test it out. We are in the throws of winter here, and the RV is in storage.
