Got my new (used) batteries!! Now, how do I rejuvenate them?

It took me 40 minutes to get it to 14.67. Even turning DOWN the pot, the voltage would climb. I may be too tired to do things right and safely. I could leave it how it is, if that is ok, or I could disconnect it and try another day. I do not trust myself to do something more complicated. Too sleep deprived.

I hope I haven't ruined this poor battery
