That's not the only problem of voice guidance. It is too slow. When you're doing 40 mph or faster, it will bark "turn left now" when you're already past the intersection. On the streets you're not going that fast, but can be a royal pain when you're leaving the highway through a complicated exit with many forks and haven't slowed down enough yet. That's why I always make a hard copy on the paper - only turns, exits and distances in between - and consult it when I know that exit or turn is coming.
It's better to have a voice giving you an advance warning that exit or turn is coming soon - and it does this job well - than not have it.
