Yes, we appreciate this feature of the Google Maps as well. The amount of pre-warning before a turn depends upon the speed limit, so can be a couple of km at highway speeds. You can then concentrate on the highway signs and maneuvering to the exit. And if there are multiple exit lanes, you are told about that too. As you say, all very useful especially with complex urban highways.
