Think. Or - read again. I commented on this already, in response to 2oldman: doing it very briefly, to check odometer, fuel gauge etc. It's an easy and quick action, and so is glancing below to find the car radio button. Reading map on tiny screen is different.

This is exactly what I'm telling. Looking at the screen for a turn or lane change when you're already making the maneuver, is dangerous. Checking the screen in advance, on clear and quiet road, - this is different and can be done briefly. Well, it's your life.
