GPS Why not a smart phone?
I am curious as to why a stand alone GPS still seems to be so popular. What with smart phones and tablets being readily available I would think that the stand alone units would sort of fade away. I me...

Before leaving on a cross country (or even a state to state) trip with my motorhome, I use the following:
1- A MAP.
2- Bing Maps
3- COMBINE the MAP with Bing Maps...and make a few notes on a notepad.
4- MEMORIZE the notes on the notepad, but keep the pad handy
5- Type in the destination address on my Tom-Tom...and see (while driving) if the Tom-Tom is 2 years behind reality. Sometimes it is! Glad it was a gift. If I'd had bought it, it would have been destroyed years ago.
6- Go over the MAP once more.
7- Enjoy the ride.
