Great Xantrex inverter help
I have had a couple of Xantrex Freedom 458 inverter/chargers in my rigs including my current 5th wheel. Some people on the forum don't like them, but I do.
About a year ago I really overloaded mine and it blew the charging and a pass through circuit. I looked for other brands, but I wasn't impressed enough to switch. Plus, I have a hole cut in my wall for the Freedom remote. I heard it was a pain to get a unit repaired plus they weigh a ton for shipping. I remembered someone posted here a year or so ago about Xantrex service in the Phoenix area. I found the number 877-484-5747 and called Chris at Tekris Power Electronics. I told Chris my situation and he assured me these are great units. I told him I was leery about shipping such a heavy unit and he said he could send me the circuit board (he diagnosed as probably faulty) if I wanted to take the chance. He said they usually don't ship the boards except for hardship cases. He sold and shipped me the board I needed and it arrived the next day. I had to buy it with the agreement of no refunds or exchanges but he was so confident in his diagnosis I felt it was the way to proceed. Well, I put it together (fairly easy) and it works great!
If you are having problems with your inverter I would recommend calling Chris.
