Grey water to flush toilet?

Take a short walk and use the outdoor plumbing.. saves a lot of water..:B

If you have separate grey tank for bathroom sink and tub, it is just soapy water. But if kitchen sink is also drains into tank, decaying food can get quite smelly.
Would require a separate pump and redoing plumbing to toilet. Also what would you do if there was not enough water in gray tank to flush, as when you start out traveling that tank is empty?

Would you really consider pumping grey water through the same pump you use for drinking/tooth brushing/dish washing? A gray water tank can get pretty funky, the soap along with dish washing residue in it can nourish quite a bacterial culture. Regardless of what kind of filter you use, it sounds like a real health hazard to me.

We have been putting some of our greywater in the Black tank through the toilet.
We have not had any problems with odor. It actually makes the black tank easier to drain because of the extra liquid.
By doing this we can extend times between draining the grey tank by 2-3 days.

As Kettner said, this could be done with a filter.

I would add that you'd need to plumb into your grey tank with a hose connected to a macerator pump, which would then be plumbed along a separate line to an auxillary sprayer near the toilet. Then you'd simply stand there and spray into your toilet with the valve open. I already do this from my shower sprayer when a particularly large pile of "stuff" has wedged itself into the toilet orifice and just won't flush--okay, too much info.

The filter on the grey line could be a VERY coarse strainer but would still have to be changed frequently. And at the end of the day I don't think it would save that much water because the toilet doesn't use that much water, the shower is the biggest offender.

Now, showering in grey water? You first!

We routinely wash dishes in a tub that fits our sink and dump the soapy water down the toilet.
So far, it's been too much trouble to save the rinse water and heat it to wash dishes in so that goes in the gray tank.

Yeah on grey water = bad. For us, grey water is waaay smellier than black.
