harbor freight gen set

Anyone bought the predator 2000 inverter they sell? how do you like it? seems strange they want you to keep gas treatment in it at all times, other than using ethanol gas in it what is the reasoning? I only use non ethanol gas in my small engines. that includes lawn mowers, weed eaters and gen sets. the predator seems to run quiet, haven't tried one while running a load yet. not sure of the durability of the unit yet. any pros and cons would be appreciated

  • Some of Harbor Freight stuff is surprisingly good. My concern with their generator will be service. I think if it needs any repair parts you may be faced with just throwing it away.
  • There's a Colorado Youtuber who's bought two of the HF 2K Predators and has good things to say about them.
  • I have a 3500 Champion and a 8500 Harbor Freight, both start every time and I'm happy with both.

To answer your question, no experience with their 2000...
  • Any gas will deteriorate over time and the stabilizer helps to overcome this.
I know a couple of people that bought a gen from HF and they are pleased with them. My son has one fo the smaller ones that he has used for a long time, his wife has to have elec. to run her breathing machine and he takes it when they go out fishing in their boat, also used as a back up by her when the electricity goes out, and the 6500 unit goes down.
  • I bought my Champion rather than any of the others. Cheaper than the HFT 2000 too.
  • I'd buy one of the Champions before buying anything electrical from HF
