Hard Start - Onan 3600 LP

We have an Onan 3600 LP generator in our 2010 Four Winds Chateau.

Need to hold start button long time before start. Red light flashes rapidly on start button.

Oil level about 1/2 full on dip stick.

We are currently traveling in the motor home. Now in Durango, CO.

Any thoughts on how to remedy?

Thanks.

Joe
  • Many motorfuel LPG problems are caused by MALFUNCTIONING COMPONENTS. You have a sensor shutdown that cuts off the fuel in case of an "Ignition on engine stalled" condition. The over ride button bypasses this. Try a TINY spritz of engine starting fluid into the air cleaner. Does this make a difference?

Not if you read the top stickie, you know, the one that says "READ BEFORE POSTING HERE".

I don't know whether it's the title of the forum, or the title of the link in the upper-right. They're different.

  • Thanks.

    Working now.

    Oil now topped off.

I found I need to hold stop button down for a few seconds to "prime".

Didn't have to do that before but we are now at 7,100 feet.
  • I can't say for sure but, I'd add oil up to the full mark and give it a try then.
