I finally found a combination for my stuff that works... but it may just be me:
1: Chevron gasoline (by name... Techron doesn't matter that much for cars, but it seems to help smaller engines.)
2: Star-Tron. I've tried Sta-Bil, I've tried SeaFoam, but Star-Tron seems to do the job the best.
3: Change the engine oil and use full synthetic. Strangely enough, this makes my generator easier to start, and makes if somewhat quieter. Placebo effect perhaps?
4: When turning off my generator, mine has a fuel petcock (the Hondas have a single on/off switch and fuel petcock -- one has to loosen a screw to drain the carb bowl, but that isn't too difficult), so I turn my generator off by turning the fuel off by the petcock, letting it run dry. This method, it tends to start up on the first tug, or 1-2 seconds when the ignition is cranked. (I prefer to pull start it when things are cold, as that is easier on the starting battery.)
