But one thing you did was connect the neutrals together.. Now this sounds reasonable, but wires have a tendency to also be capicators. and can form a voltage divider.. I've seen this in my own RV when I'm on generator power (NO safety ground neutral/ground not bonded, nor is it required) and the result was .. Shocking.. (Not seriously, not even dangerously, but it might be enough to fry your inverter).
