You need to see which wires the person that removed the genset disconnected and what was reconnected.
It sounds as though they connected the wire from the coach battery to the chassis battery.
Yes if they didn't blow any fuses or connected the battery up back wards it should be running off the converter.
Check for blow fuse in the DC power distribution center.
Check the converter to see if has any reverse polarity fuses and verify that they are not blown.
