If you are on shore power as it seems, then the converter will first run everything "12v" in the rig, and whatever amps are left over out of the 55 amps (simple explanation of voltage diffs etc) will go towards battery charging.
So if you are running a bunch of 12v stuff, that could explain why the batts are not coming up as fast as you expect. (Or are they--how can you tell?) You need an hydrometer for that if you have Wet, unsealed batts. ($5.00?)
It would also help if you had a ($10.00 ?) digital meter so you could tell what is going on. Even a Chinese one :) if you are an RVer, even a weekend warrior, you must have one of these.
