Except for stupid expensive ones, virtually all meters are made in China. You might also find them made in Thailand, Singapore, etc, but a digital meter is a fairly simple device.
Get a Harbor Freight sales flyer that has a coupon for a free meter with a purchase, then go and buy something you can use, wheel chocks, a reflective hi viz vest, a dogbone shore power adapter, etc, and get your free meter.
