The most efficient and no harder to do than other configerations is too wire your 2 12volts in parrelel with trailer positive on one battery and trailer ground on the other battery. Your on-board converter will then charge that way too. If using an external charger do the samething. Cost nothing in terms of time or money to do it that way
But like some others have indicated if you have sufficient large wires and good connections to the batteries it doesn't make much difference.
