I've been using my home made portables for years both boondocking and in dry campground, no one has touched them yet. Then again like BFL, my portables are full size grid tied panels and not so easy to grab and walk away with.
Portable vs mounted, half a dozen in one hand, six in the other. I look forward to getting a system mounted but will also build a rack under the trailer to hold my 230w poly as a portable just for those times when the mounted can't cut it.
The general rule of thumb is one watt per Ah of battery, and you have plenty of Ah's to cover. If the kit you buy can cover your needs, you will be fine. If not, then run the generator in the morning and let the solar finish the job.
