Online or snail mail card, it IS the same old "marketing" gimmick.
Online actually can be far worse since once they get your email address there is no way to get rid of the endless marketing emails short of abandoning the email address and starting with a new address..
Throw those cards away and don't look back, they are not required for any warranty.. Otherwise you are openly giving those companies free info about you..
