Home plumbing question

Does PEX or any one else make a fitting for connecting 1/2" PEX to a shower supply. The shower connection would have to be 3/4" female threads.
In other words I am looking for one fitting that would be 3/4" female threads, and the other end 1/2 " PEX.
I am looking for one that doesn't need the special crimp ring, (just push the 1/2" pipe in)

I just salvaged one off of an air conditioner. SharkBite 1/2" x 3/4" FNPT webpage calls it U068LF, package it came in calls it U068A. Get a clean square cut on the PEX and be careful to NOT scar the surface where the SharkBite will be installed.

EDIT: I bought it at Home Depot.

Then why feed it with a 1/2" line :H

In my brick and mortar 1973 built home with high potable water pressure all of the distribution piping is 3/4" copper piping from the meter inward, including to and from the hot water heater, until it reaches the room to be serviced.

In each bath and in the kitchen the two 3/4" lines(Hot and Cold) are split off to each fixture using 1/2" copper lines.

With the multi head showers and large tubs being installed today the supply lines on some have been moved up to 3/4".

  • To those that answered above:
I described the fitting I am looking for:
3/4" female threads on one side and the other side to accept 1/2 ' push in Pex tubing.

I couldn't find it on line for either Home Depot or Lowes and I am an hour away from any of the stores.

I was hoping a plumber or some who knows or has used such a fitting would chime in.

The fitting that was there was a PCV one 3/4" female threaded reduced to 1/2" glued and it froze and broke, so I don't want to replace it with the same
I am familiar with and have used most of the fittings that go with PEX, but never this one.

I am not looking for suggestions. Just the fitting

My inlet; both hot and cold are brass 3/4 inch male threads.

  • Look for an item of hardware called "SharkBite". SharkBites come in an entire array of combinations to fit just about everything. They work with PEX also as there is a small sleeve inside that slides up the PEX pipe to make it solid and not soft. Look for Shark Bites.

Lowe's, Home Depot, Menards, Ace Hardware, pretty much any hardware, plumbing, or home improvement store that sells plumbing has them. Find the one that fits your need on the web site above and then find it at one of the hardware stores.

Last week I installed a new bathtub spigot on my mothers bathtub. The plumbing was 3/8 inch copper tubing from 1970. I wanted to tap into it and come off with CPVC 1/2 inch. I found a SharkBite at Home Depot that worked. Snapped it right on, and worked perfect!
  • PEX is not a name brand. It is an acronym for the type of plastic used to make the tubing--cross linked polyethylene. If you have a 1/2" fitting and need to connect to 3/4", a bushing is the easiest. If you wish to install a 3/4" fitting without a crimp ring, there are push-on fittings available. Sharkbite is a brand name of this type of push-on fitting. All of this is available at any big-box store.
