Having owned 2 Honda EU2000i gensets myself I'd suggest your concern is much ado about nothing. If this really does bother you as much as it seems then just add one of those aftermarket adapters OR buy the new EU2200i which does feature an improved oil port design. Honda currently manufactures ~ 45,000 gensets each year so I doubt their corporate existence is in any danger - any Honda genset you don't buy someone else will. ;)
