Honeywell 2000i fixed

I have one of those hard starting hw2000i generators, hardly ever use it, but start generator up every 6 months or so when I'm in shed. Today I decided to finally fix it so it starts up easier. I picked up a squeeze primer bulb used for outboard motors put it between tank and fuel cut off switch. There is a compartment under tank, bulb just fits after a little trimming.

After gassing gen. I pumped primer until I could see fuel go thru fuel filter. Started 2nd pull. I went back out several hours later and first pull starts it. I was kinda proud of myself.

  • This is very interesting Roy. My Honda has always been a royal B to start.
It sounds like the problem is getting fuel to a dry carb in the first place?

My 2KW Honda Generator sits secured in the tailgate corner of my truck. My truck has the locking folding bed covers...

I use mine all the time for something. Just the other day at a WALMART there was this older lady standing next to her car with the hood up with that "HELP" look on her face haha... Just took a few minutes to get her on her way...

My Honda is over six years old now and always starts right up. The only maintenance I have ever done with it is change the oil once a year.

When I am camping off the power grid it gets a good work-out every morning for three hours recharging my batteries.

It is also neat to have around the house when the power goes out for a week like it has here at home during the past two years for a hurricane passing close by or one of those unexpected ICE STORMS. I just run a couple of extension cords into the house from my off-road POPUP trailer INVERTER for TV, checking emails, some lights, and hook up the fridge an hour or so a day. Then run the generator to recharge the batteries back up when needed.
