Does anyone own a Honeywell 2000i inverter / generator ?

Question

If you own one of these, inspect your pull rope frequently. In my opinion, there is a design flaw where the rope exits the housing. The brass ring is soft &amp; wears rapidly causing sharp edges on it that will fray the rope. After fewer than 100 pulls on the starter, mine broke. I have since fixed it, but modified the point of exit so it won't happen again. If anyone wants info on this mod, let me know.

Thanks for the info. I'll check my starter cord tonight. It's about 5 years old so I know I've had more than 100 pulls on the cord. I'd love to see your mod.

The only issue I've had with mine is a gummed up carberator earlier this year. Had to disassemble it for a really good cleaning. Other than that it's been a good generator.

My 2KW Honda EU2000i sits secured in the tail gate corner of my truck even when not camping. It gets used on a daily basis for something it seems... I got mine back in 2008 and it usually starts on first pull.

This is the way it looks when camping -

The Honeywell 2000i version probably is much the same as the Honda. Have not had any issues with the pull cord on the Honda.

I had one back in 2009drill the hole so that when you pull on the rope you are pulling straight upor straight outNOT dragging the rope at an angledrill a hole in the caseuse a teflon grommet for rope entry into the case
