Hi all,
The belt is beginning to show "cords", so I'll have it replaced.
They inspected the hoses and said they are fine.
I'm in for a brake job. Fronts are ok but rear needs new disks, and the driver's side caliper needs to be replaced.
Good plan.
On the brakes, have them file or grind a bit off the tabs on the pads where they fit into the calipers. Often new replacement pads fit too tight in the calipers..
Add a little road salt or ocean mist and you end up with rusted in place brake pads..
Folks too often blame the calipers for "sticking" and needlessly replace calipers when in reality it is the pads rusting in place.
You want the pads to slide fairly easily to start with but not be to sloppy, too sloppy they will chatter, too tight and you have to force them into the caliper and they are not able to relax when no brakes are applied.
Have had more than one of Ford brake pads get rusted in place, takes a BIG hammer and heavy duty screw driver to beat them out of the calipers when that happens..
