Might just be sediment in the threads. flush some water through while working a toothbrush in the threads. After that dry up the water and put some vinegar on the toothbrush and work that around the threads every few minutes to keep them soaked in vinegar. The mildly acidic vinegar will eat up any calcium deposits in the threads.
