10 minutes is not enough.....especially if the disconnect switch is not turned ON during that time to allow the house batteries to charge.
The gen should be exercised once a month too. That will put additional charge into the batteries.....if the charging is working right.

This is true.
It takes 200 to 400 amps to start a vehicle. For you to replace those amps in 10 minutes, the alternator would have to put out 1200 to 2400 amps in an hour. Not gonna happen. Starting a vehicle for 10 minutes only runs the battery down faster.
