Have you considered that AGMs can be placed on a side or end? Two Grp31 side by side and on end will be tall, but have a smaller footprint than 2 GCs. On their side they can be stacked.
Deka specs. Note that there is no advantage for 2 x GCs compared to 2 x 31s for total AHs.
