How difficult to install fantastic fan?

We are on our 3rd Shurflo Comfort Air fan. All three have developed a squeak. All replaced under warranty and installed by 3 different places (original manufacturer, 2 different dealers). So I am done with their stuff.

We had a Fantastic fan in our previous trailer that never gave us any problems. Camping world has $100 off right now on the remote (which we need as it is way up high) version.

Questions:

How difficult would it be to replace the Shurflo with the Fantastic?

How would you remove all the sealant around the current fan to get it out?

What sealant should I use?

With one person on roof and one inside. job should take like 15 minutes or less.

Basically, 4 to 8 screws and 2 wires.
  • Thanks for the input. Ended up ordering through Amazon.

    Wish me luck! :)
  • The scraping is a bit tedious but if you commit 30 to 60 minutes to work slow and do a good job you will probably finish sooner than you think. My Fantastic vent came with a gasket and I used self leveling Dicor to make the final seal. Took me two hours start to finish working alone and it is the first time I have done it.

Fantastic installed on a truck camper-pics (not mine)

  • Getting the sealant off is the worst part. Heat and plastic scraping tool will soften it up but it's a test of patience.
  • The wiring is already there.
So just need to remove old one. Install new one. Seal real well on roof.
