Your awning looks like mine. I can tilt the awning down on one end. My awning model number is Dometic 9100E on a 2017 Cedar Creek.
Does your awning have a slot through the length of the shiny metal part next to the black knob?
If so, try this: Stand on a step stool, loosen the black knob with your right hand, use your left hand to pull the awning arm towards your right hand. The gas spring strut will shorten, allowing the awing arm to shorten and change the angle to the "rain position".
The awning instructions I have did NOT cover this.
Remember to loosen the knob and level the awning, before retracting the awning.
