Float voltage may slow the process down, but batteries need to be equalized approximately every 30 days.
Low, low amperage charging at high voltage may help with sulfate removal. 168 hours or more.

One saving grace is that they been connected to 350 watts of solar panels for most of their life. My solar charge controller does "float" charging, which I think helps ward off sulfate development somewhat.
