How do I coax more life from my golf cart batteries ?

Do your capacity test at c/20 (5 amps for each 100 amp-hours of storage @ 12 volts). That would be about a 40 watt 120 volt bulb on the inverter, allowing for inverter losses. As the battery bank discharges the inverter may attempt to support the voltage by drawing more and more amps.
