Did the one that came out look Threaded or Pressed? I think the thread size is "1/8-inch-by-27-thread-Pipe" which sounds odd to me, but as I recall IF you can catch a couple turns with a 1/4-inch-by-28-thread "NF" tap you can get a threaded zerk to catch.
Or, hopefully, the zerk lost some of its threads and a new one will hold.
Our E-Series no longer have King Pins. 1991 was last year of those, sadly. It was a better-driving, longer-lasting chassis! Our guys have Ball Joints. Our 2002 OEM BJ's had plugs and I installed zerks. The ones on the 2012 axle I just installed are truly Sealed. Not even a hole for plug or zerk.
