I'm getting really aggravated with my Norcold 1200LRIM fridge. It's constantly going into the "no co" lockout, and when it does work, it's sort-of cold in the freezer and only lukewarm in the refrigerator compartment.
However, I note that my rent-a-storage space (where I test the RV before road-tripping) is not exactly level.
So just how picky are these LP refrigerators? How tilted can they be before they malfunction?
I have to admit, I'm sure spoiled by my Engel portable refrigerators; if they weren't so small and heavy, I'd dump the Norcold in a flash, because the Engel will work at almost any tilt (that won't spill the food out). Too bad Engel doesn't make permanent-mount RV refrigerators.
Lets start with the NO CO. NO CO is a Cooling unit protection built into the Refer control board. The ONLY time you get a NO CO is when something occurs that will stop and normal cool down cycle which will harm the cooling unit, so the refer shuts down until you find and fix the problem. Things that will cause this
1. Parking OFF level. That means a pretty severe off level. IF you get a NO CO from this, you are WAY OFF a safe level not just a little off.
2. Lack of correct ventilation at the rear of the refer up the outside back up the cooling unit. This is usually the Cooling fans that have failed on a 1200----THIS is the number one cause of a NO CO on a 1200
3. Inadequate LP pressure or dirty burner.
4. One of the 2- 120 heating elements is bad
5. The cooling unit is bad.
If you continue to get a NO CO, YOU have something wrong with the refer or you are doing something wrong.
6. When you get a NO CO, you have 1 try at a reset by turning the refer OFF for 10 seconds and restarting. IF you have NOT corrected the cause of the NO CO, then it will throw a 2nd NO CO and lock you out of the refer controls and then you have to do a board reset.
7. What year model RV do you have and what brand and model RV? Is this refer in a slide room? Doug
