That is because your old models were 'less' susceptible to cooling unit problems due to thicker tubing used.
Get a new unit then 'level' becomes an issue

THAT is a 'band-aid' fix at best.
Off level operation causes overheating due to proper gravity flow being interrupted. The rust inhibitor crystallizes when overheated....attaches to inside of tubes and becomes solid causing blockage which interrupts gravity flow which etc. etc.
Damage is accumulative and permanent.
