How long do we want batteries to last ?
IMO, and IME, nothing is simpler to maintain than LA RV batteries. When connected to a decent charger, and watered once...maybe twice a year, and maybe hosed off once in a while, they last an easy 8-1...

One reason may be, that a battery is an electrical device controlled by a chemical reaction. For some, they're not any hard endpoints that can be referenced and that leads to confusion.
Don't worry about it, keep up your usual easy maintenance and go fishing.:B
