How long do we want batteries to last ?
IMO, and IME, nothing is simpler to maintain than LA RV batteries. When connected to a decent charger, and watered once...maybe twice a year, and maybe hosed off once in a while, they last an easy 8-1...

I don't do solar, Michigan is rated #47 of the 48 states in available sunshine. I wanted to be able to recharge our batteries in the shortest generator run time, so I upgraded the charger. The added benefit I got was less often I needed to add water to batteries. Once a year does the job.
