How long do we want batteries to last ?
IMO, and IME, nothing is simpler to maintain than LA RV batteries. When connected to a decent charger, and watered once...maybe twice a year, and maybe hosed off once in a while, they last an easy 8-1...

I've said this a few times in different threads recently.
One of these (bought in May 2008 and still charges to 13+): Walmart $75
Charged daily at the campground by one (or two if I need A/C) of these: Wise $900
Charged by one of these at home after every trip: Walmart $30
