Note the Trojan charging spec for 14.8v (at 77F--higher when cold out) and occasional equalizing at 16.2v. Note my previous post re the PowerMax LK, which can do that 16.2 when needed. Good luck finding any other converter that can do that! :)

Can't understand paying $170 for Trojan instead of $90 for Sam's/Costco when on a budget, but you are over 21 so not my business.

Ok so I changed direction, I bought a ARB 50 quart fridge freezer, it draws .87amps @ 12v and should be adequate for the amount of food I need for two to three days. I am going with four Trojan T-105 batteries to start, I can get them local for $170.00. I will look for a 12v heated throw Incase I need it for sleeping.

I am planning on adding charging from the truck alternator at a later date but will start with a charger that will run off the Honda 2200 inverter gen I have. Any suggestions would be great. In the future I am planning on a Outback VFXR2812A inverter/charger but with the current financial situation that has to wait. I need to figure out the battery wiring, I have 1/0 DLO cable that I need to get connectors for, I do have a hydraulic crimper. Any suggestions on good quality connectors would be great.

I run a 75 amper like this set to 14.4v on my AGMs from a B&S P2200.
It maxes out the P2200 at a measured 1700VA but the gen keeps running.

The Honda 2200 is rated a little higher at 1800VA so it would be perfect with this 75 amper.

The converter linked has the big advantage that you can set it to any voltage your batteries are specified for and change that voltage when it is time to do so (such as when they are full and you drop to 13.x), or you can just run it as a normal three-stage in automatic mode.

This can be an expensive issue. Too small and its hassling an expensive bling endlessly purring vulnerable to theft. Too big and the generator can't run it.

What would be a good charger to pair with a Honda 2200 inverter generator?

You may want to use the divide by 10 rule-of-thumb when converting 120VAC Watts to 12VDC Amps.

Example: 100W at 120V = 0.833A. If you use the times 10 method(10 * .833= 8.33) to estimate battery draw as 8.33, you will underestimate the effective draw.

Instead use 100 / 10 =10Amps. The difference is at least an estimate of what needs to be put back into the battery.

You will pull the 31 Xt too low. You have other hotel loads. Three 31 Xts would be closer to base reality. The beauty of a Lifeline is that a single 31 will accept an enormous amount of amperage. A 100 amp charger would be a good fit. Set to 14.4 volts. Estimating battery and charger sizes is an artform and is almost impossible to do without amp hour METER kWh data gathered over a month's time. Pencil estimation at it's best averages minus thirty percent or greater.

Even with my 3300 amp hour 24 volt array I ended up with 700 amperes of recharge running two diesel engines to conserve engine run time. To stumble badly during calculations is a humbling experience

Be aware that Lead acid chemistries work best if all jars are the same age.

Note the Peukert effect which results in much longer life span if loads are spread over a larger number of amp-hours. For example a 250 amp-hour battery bank with a 10 amp load would be at 50% state of charge in about 13 hours. Whereas a 500 amp-hour bank with the same 10 amp load would hit 50% in about 29.9 hours. At 750 amp-hours 50% comes after 48 hours.

The good charger you speak of may be best with a top of the line converter, or else an inverter/charger.

My own choice was an inverter/charger with temperature compensated charging. I do have a modest solar charging system as well.

A 200 watt load @ 120 volts represents 20 amps @ 12 volts.

My first battery bank was 875 amp-hours.

Ok so I am thinking going for 250Ah to start and see if I can get 24 hours between charges, I plan on adding two more batteries at a later date. The electric blanket is 200 watts on high so I know I will not use that much wattage. Probably use med setting so maybe 100 watts, the fridge I don’t have yet but it is energy star rated so I am hoping for a 30% cycle rate. I do have a Honda 2200 to charge with, I need to get good charger.
