I do a lot of my own repairs but when I cannot fix it I take it to our local RV shop which does a great job and usually has most needed parts in stock. I had an appointment this morning at 8am to repair my hot water heater. They took it in at 8am as promised and had it repaired and ready for me to leave at 10am. Parts ran just over $40 but they have raised their labor rate to $110 per hour so the labor was $220 plus the $19.95 shop supply charge. (Which we all know is a rip)
I guess you get what you pay for. I got good service in a timely manner but this seems a little high. Just wondering what the going shop rate is now.
Just another example of why you should fix it yourself.
Water heater repairs are very easy to do.
They charged $40 for parts that you probably could have found cheaper.
Sounds like a set of t-stats or maybe a spark electrode.
Look up the water heater Brand/Model on line and download the service manual.
RV appliances are fairly simple designs and not difficult to do repairs.
Shop labor....$95 to $120 per hour can go long way to 'learning' yourself
Worked fine on gas it was the electric side that was out. I knew what was wrong just not able to bend/squat right now because of some medical/surgery issues.
