How to cover a recess mounted Olympian Wave heater?

Hello everyone. I recently purchased an Olympian Wave 6 heater and was intending on surface mounting it or just letting it sit portable on its legs. But after receiving it and seeing how large it actually was, it turns out there was no reasonable location for it to be mounted either intended way I imagined. So I ordered the recess kit and finally got it crammed in its hole. End result is it looks great but I now realize that there is NO possible way to cover this thing using the covers supplied by Olympian. :h Understanding that Olympian is very particular about making sure the unit is covered when not in use to keep dust off of the pad, you'd think they would offer a cover which enables covering it when recess mounted. Anyone offer some advice here? Thank you.

Is the Wave steel framed? HD or Lowes sells small magnets that could be sewn into the fabric.

Yes it is. Another great idea.

I'm just not completely understanding why the manufacture makes both a wrap around cover for when its surface mounted, a cover to slip over the top when its mounted on the freestanding legs.....but not a cover for when its recessed using its own recess kit. Seems odd. Looks like I'll have to fabricate something.

Old Guy, I'd love to see pictures if you have some.

And Ex-Tech, I'm not sure how you covered your recessed Wave 8 either. There's no way possible if you recess mounted it since the cover wraps around the back side.....which is now an 1" or so behind the wall.

Well, mine could only be recessed enough until it hit the inner wall and there was enough protruding in front for the elastic band around the cover to hold it onto the face of the heater and didn't need to wrap around the back.

  • I was thinking of using hog clips but then you have the problem of losing them so why not use snap clips. the males have a screw you screw into cabinet then use a female to snap to the males. just have a shop make you a cover to snap in place. wish I could send you a picture but I know I would mess that up. they are the kind of snaps they use on boat covers and tops to clip to the windshields of boats.
