How to disable security system with starter interrupt

My tow vehicle has a security system that interrupts engine start until a security code is entered via a dashboard located key pad. It is a 'Safe Guard' system and I find zero info on it. Having to turn on the ignition and then key in a four digit code is a PIA and I want to remove it. I think all it does is interrupt the ignition start command to the starter solenoid. Anyone familiar with this thing?

  • Thanks, I'll crawl under the dash and check out the wiring.
  • typically with an aftermarket device, the starter wire is interrupted under the column, close to the key switch.

follow the wiring from the keypad.

You will see that the starter wire is cut/separated, and the cut ends will be attached to a relay (or relay harness).

Re-attach as they would have been factory (solder & tape, or yellow butt connector), and remove keypad and all aftermarket wiring associated .
  • If we knew what vehicle it was installed on, and some more information, perhaps we could help.
