Nah, need more freedom than the stand provides, but thanks for the link! I'm definitely going to anchor it but yes, if I could do that without going all the way through the roof -- all the better. There is a seam in the living room ceiling. By tapping I can tell there's something solid under there. How thick do you think the wood is, and how wide? My best guess by knocking with a knuckle is about 10"
Here's a photo of the ceiling when you lay dead center in the living room with your feet facing the back of the rig. The seam is a little more forward than I'd like. Ideally, it would be great to anchor it between the two lights but I can't tell if there's a cross beam there. There would have to be supports at regular intervals to walk on the roof, right? And the lights have to be anchored to something. But maybe it's not a major support. That close to the major seam I doubt it is.

The manufacturer is out of business. I don't think there' anything in the owner's manual that shows the outer structure.
