how to safely deenergize capacitor
I need to replace a ac compressor capacitor and was wondering how to safely deenergize it?also how do itest it after to make sure it is deenergized.I do not like getting shocked!

- Ok,so after that I should be able to handle it without fear of shock?also will it ark when I ground it?
- By ground do you mean just run a wire from one end of capacitor to ground somewhere close?
- Short it to ground. Leave it connected to ground if concerned it might re-charge.
